The blue and gray circles of the Earth and the Moon, and the yellow rays of the distant Sun, place the space telescope at , a million miles from Earth and always opposite the Sun, hence the slogan "A Million Miles Beyond Midnight". The background image is the , representing the distant Universe that JWST will uniquely observe with its infrared instruments.
